MMA Fighters | UFC Fighters | Randy Couture | Matt Hughes

MMANEWSLEAK Exclusive:

If you aren’t familiar with the name, Kyle Maynard is former amateur wrestler and aspiring MMA fighter who has a condition called congenital amputation which means he has no arms beyond his elbows and no legs beyond his knees.  Either positive or negative, no one can watch the ESPN piece and not feel emotion in one direction.  During the interview with Bob Ley, Maynard used words like freakshow and massacre to describe emails he had received about his possible MMA career.

“Kyle Maynard: A Fighting Chance” was the ESPN documentary about his burgeoning career as a fighter which aired a little over a year ago.  Sometimes a little difficult to watch, it’s still an inspirational look at a person attempting to follow their dreams despite a disability most would consider prohibitive for MMA.

Regardless of you feel about his desire to compete in MMA or the attention his plight has garnered, you have to admire his myopic focus on a goal and his dogged pursuit of normality.
