The Natural Bron Thiller: Carlos Condit
One thing is certain when Carlos “The Natural Born Killer” Condit fights: It won’t be boring. Saturday night at UFC 120 in Great Britain, Carlos Condit further cemented his reputation as a welterweight contender with a stunning KO of mohawked hooligan handsmith, Dan Hardy.
Condit came to the UFC carrying a significant amount of ballyhoo thanks to his days as WEC champion but his UFC career got off to a rocky start with a split decision loss to boot-leather tough Martin Kampmann. Since that setback though, Condit has ripped off three straight wins with two of those being considered some of the best of the year.
Fans first starting hearing about Condit’s ability in 2006 during a ROTR (Rumble on the Rock) tournament style competition that had him fight Frank Trigg and Jake Shields in one night (he beat Trigg; lost to Shields).
Fans then got to follow Condit through the WEC including a tremendous showing against brawler Brock Larson and his explosive strength. Larson was a fairly large favorite and early in the fight took Condit down. Larson then did what he loves to do which is force his opponent up against the cage and commence pounding him senseless. However, Condit was able to secure an armbar and earn the submission.
Although Condit fought entertaining fights his entire career, his four fights since joining the UFC have all been utterly thrilling. Condit’s finishing skills might have been a little in question but no more after getting a TKO win Rory McDonald and starching Englishman Dan Hardy. Carlos Condit may never make people forget about Anderson Silva, but in regards to giving fights fans tremendous effort and extraordinarily enjoyable fights.
